The time has come. Not because I actually feel ready to do this but because Unlock the Lachs is beginning a new life and I need to do this so it can do that. In loving memory of Lachy and in his name, Unlock the Lachs will make a difference to local North Queensland families for years to come in some way or another. Of this, I am determined to achieve – paying forward his love.

In the past I’ve found it easier to express myself in the written word but in the situation I am living or rather functioning in at the moment, the written word makes it all too real. We are all grieving differently but grieving entirely. I still can’t believe this is now our reality. Everyone has been amazingly supportive. Saying and doing all the right things. Everything I don’t think I would have known how to be, for them in the reverse. It’s been humbling and comforting. On behalf of a family grieving with a broken heart, I thank you all so much.

I would like to share a few of my words to my little man. xx

Because you are so loved, our loss of you will fill every part of our being. I would have done anything to take away your constant struggle and be the one who was suffering. When you looked into our eyes we were spellbound. It’s impossible to imagine how life will ever be the same. And accept that it won’t be. Our lives are so much richer for the gift of you. You were a warrior through so much adversity but are remembered most for your smile and your beautiful blue windows to your soul. So smile is what we now must do and celebrate your beautiful life which has been the greatest gift to us all. I mistakenly called you Lucky Lachy. We were absolutely the lucky ones. We love you Lachy, will think of you many times of every day, and will miss you wholeheartedly. Rest in peace my gorgeous little man. You gave us your everything and your smile, strength and courage fills our heart and soul.

I have not been in direct contact because I felt I would only cry and make it hard for you all. But think of you all frquently. Lachy was a special little boy who when he smiled the world smiled with him. Our love and thoughts with you always. Doug and Muriel

RIP Lachy As a parent I imagine this to be the worst thing you could ever experience. I often imagine myself in your shoes and end up in tears. There is nothing I can say to make this loss any easier, so instead I want you to know that I will jump if you call and I will always be there if you need someone to lean on.
